I'm sorry, I was a hardcore U2 fan, but haven't been able to truly appreciate them since Zooropa... (though I did like Numb and still have the drummers goatee...) Just seems like they sold out and all they do now is commercial crap. Gimme back the days of them doing Gloria on a barge... Gimme back Sunday Bloody Sunday... Gimme back Under a Blood Red Sky...

That is what I thought, but then I really listened again. Try it. Be open to it. They have done anything BUT sell out. Listen to the last two. I thought I had left them behind at one point, but now I see.

I am an old school girl with U2. My favorite era is Unforgettable Fire and before. Though, Joshua Tree is one tremendous album. Some albums take time for me to wrap myself around, time for me to "get it".
The Atomic Bomb and All That You Can't Leave Behind were instant hits with me.

I don't think I would ever write them off. Not even after the ticket sale fiasco for the first leg of this tour. They did what they could to fix it - and it worked.

Their music speaks to me on all sorts of levels.

They went off on a tangent for a few years. They have come back. It was well worth the wait. Well worth the hassles, the stress and yes, the money. This concert tour - they mix it up. They switch the set list around. And they play songs not heard live in many years. Songs that built the base of who they are. They play the songs you mention.

Definitely agree with Kylie...
Go listen to the new CD - Love and Peace or Else, Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, A Man & A Woman...and yes, Vertigo (it rocks). Go listen to the CD before (All That You Can't Leave Behind) - Beautiful Day, Kite, Walk On, In a Little While.

I miss the time when they were "my" band and not everyone elses. But I will never write them off. Their music history is way too much a part of my history.

I look forward to many more years of their music, their lyrics - the love!

Sorry for the novel - but I am very passionate about this band.

Well, we are already off on a U2 tangent. I have to say: PERFECTLY STATED. Exactly what I would write. Exactly. TooCool -read each word Autumncat wrote. The levels are the key, and yes, they have "returned". If you really did "hear" it before, then you will be able to now. Don't deprive yourself of this.

Edited so that I am not "repeating" the entire previous post.

Kylie,
I just read someone's reveiew of the show. They were able to hear more of what Bono was saying between songs and such.

He pulled two litte girls on stage - here is a photo and snippet of the converstation:
Bono with two young fans

Bono: What's you're name?
Girl 1: Kelly...
Girl 2: Kylie...
Bono: My name is Paul... But I like to call myself Bono!

Isn't that wild?!?

this really sucks.... not the photos though.. Joe Cocker will be performing in Iceland in september, I was going to the consert to take pictures, but it is forbidden to enter with ANY kind of electric device, mobile phones included. all kinds of recording is prohibited, sound, and photography.

so I guess I'm not going to the consert :(
