After checking out profile after profile, I have to say that I am pretty shocked at how many of the profile pix are really bad, or maybe I should say really disappointing?
05/12/2005 11:44:04 PM · #2
i like mine...
and yeah, ive noticed that too. but then again not many people take self-portraits (unless its for a challenge), and therefore dont have any pics of themselves. so the turn the camera backwards and click, which results in bad profile pics. or they just dont want to spend the time to make one.

Shooting my very own back is not an option! And even if I tried, it wouldn't look as good as this one my friend shot!

I find a lot of the profile pics quite interesting. I think since a lot of the people around here obviously tend to lean towards the creative side of life, they are more about self expression than a 'quality' pic on their profile page.

You talking about ME, dude? LOL... I kinda like it, and it shows me better than my self-portrait-as-raindrop shot at least.

LOL

Well, my current profile pic did pretty good in the Self-Portrait III challenge. But, it's difficult to have any photo look good when you're limited to 120 X 90 pixels.

Everyone who has commented on here so far has a great profile pic...I am talking about really bad stuff..we all know it when we see it..I just wonder why .. I would rather see nothing than a pixelated, horribly blurry, eye (for example) : )

I nrmally don't mind my pix taken, but sometime ananimity is a pleasant feeling.

besides, it gives me a chance to play without rules.

I don't agree with you at all.
I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't know how to shoot, and shoot good stuff.
I think that if someone chose a special photo for his or her porfolio, thee's a reason.
Sometimes it's just a personal joke and sometimes there's something else behind it. Also, many times people really want to put a certain photo but resizing it to the profile photo size completely ruins it.

Of all photos I think that the profile ones are the last ones to judge.
And I really don't mean to offend in any way, but if you don't like a certain photo, you really don't have to look at it.
After all it is so small.

Well said ADI. I just uploaded an old pic and don't really want to put time into that photo. I have very few pics of myself as I am always the one behind the camera. I just uploaded mine so everyone could have a face to cuss out to. :-) I don't really care to spend time on my profile pic.

Geesh, I'm such a crappy photographer that I can't even manage to get my whole face in the pic..... No matter how hard I try. I should just quit now. ;-P

Not all of us are into self-portraiture.
I'm definitely not a subject I enjoy shooting!

Mine is just an old image a friend took of me on a holiday some years ago...

If anyone does shoot a better image of me (at a GTG or something) I'd be happy to swap this one out.

I really like your profile photo. You look like a real fun person.

I was recently thinking about this issue (not about other people's profile photos, but about mine.)
I have what I have now (you can see more of my camera than me) and I thought about replacing it with this one. Thoughts?

Aaaw! Thanks! I'm a very smiley, chatty person. And I'm sure some DPCers who've met me will confirm that I verge on the completely batty. See if you can get all the way over for one of our London GTGs sometime - would be nice to meet.
