I have been looking around online and I can't find the right spots to find one of these beauties (ef 80-200 2.8L). I am looking for sharp intermediate zoom lens, used, something that I won't regret spending money on in 2 years. I have read outstanding reviews on this lens, and supposedly it is affordable and obtainable used. I just can't find one...
Please help!
Thanks,

I got mine from the FM forums... there were about 5-6 others there over the time i was looking... the price is what decided the one I bought. |

what would you rather have the 80-200 than the 70-200? |

Since the article says that 650-800 is the normal asking price for these, I can definitely see why someone may prefer that over the 70-200, as long as they don't need to use teleconverters or desire a USM.

In terms of price, and sharpness the 80-200L. In terms of Servicing FTM and focus speed the 70-200L. |

It's actually a bit more inflated than 650-800 avg now... I got mine with the tripod col. for $730 shipped however. |

i like the 80-200 because i don't care whether the lens is black or white, nor do I need the USM. I just want a sharp, rugged, well-tested medium range zoom, used if possible. The 80-200 appears to be just that, and it seems to be cheaper than the 70-200 as well. |

If you want a sharp, rugged zoom, but don't care about USM, consider going with the Sigma 80-400 instead and picking up twice the range. It's about $1000, significantly cheaper than the Canon 70-200, and has gotten excellent reviews.
Heavy, though. |

That lens, while good, isn't in the same class as the one he's looking for. |

the lens usually has a few copies on ebay... but it's even more inflated there. You could get lucky though. |

$899.00 for an Excellent Plus at KEH. These guys have excellent service and reputation (me and bud buy and trade there all the time) and excellent plus means near new. |
