try looking at it as a shape, and not as a flower. Just because it's a macro of a flower, doesn't mean it doesn't fit the challenge.

There are more options than to take a picture of a literal triangle. Think of connect the dots. There may be three objects in an image but no literal triangle. However, when you connect these objects you get a triangle. If the composition is working well, you, as the viewer, keep jumping from one of those objects to the other and never leaving the image. If it is not working well (for you) then your eyes tend to wander. Just some insight, not intended to sway anyone in one direction or another.

Just wanted to make sure I had the correct challenge. I am not scoring the macro of flowers low. I mean heck their were 25 other people that thought the same idea so obviously alot of people think they are triangles or form them.

This is true, however, triangles are made up of lines AND points. You can have three lines that don't connect, and it will make a triangle more readily then three points will. Especially if there is so much space around these objects that your eyes are jumping around with nothing to settle on.

aaaahhhhhhh GOTCHA. Thanks for the clarification. :)

The only reason I don't give the pretty flower pictures all 8+ is because I factor in orignality and creativity into my vote. If the flower shot is decent it'll get between 5 and 8 because of how it looks, how it has been executed and its relevance to the challenge (the latter being consistent for all flower shots). I don't have anything against flower shots but they probably won't be the best of the best for me in a challenge.

I would add that you don't necessarily need invisible lines to make a triangle if the picture is otherwise full of them.

I can't believe it! My second challenge as I've only just joined the site and at present the scoring is
Votes 78
score 5.01
2 comments (both helpful and positive)
Favourite 1 ( wow!)
I took the pic with my cheaper snapshot camera just to see how the idea turned out and it looked pretty good so decided not to try again with the better camera. Played on photoshop without much idea of what I was doing except it seemed to tidy it up a bit and since time was running out I just submitted.
Much easier thanthe last challenge when I was running around the town in the dead of night trying not to get arrested and to find a good shot.
I am so excited - and completely addicted.
Pleeeese don't let it fall below 5!!
Even better - I'm beating my husband at the moment. What do you think the "winner " in our household oought to get? Ideas please!!

I'll answer that with a question, and be careful answering it ;-)
Which would you prefer: A) lower score does laundry and irons everything, even socks, for a month, or B) lower score HAS to do something "romantic" once a day for a week?
The answer matters...

The second is certainly a better idea! Since I'm married to a Yorkshireman ( not the most romantic creatures on the planet!) it could be quite a challenge for him. Trouble is - he's too busy taking photos for this site! That's why I decided to join up as well. If you can't beat 'em..........

Thank Heavens for digital - I already edit and trash three quarters of photos he takes of me!!! Not his photograhy just I'm not a good model!!

Still it would make him improve his photoshop skills ( and his airbrushing, softening, etc etc .........

Look, I don't care that I haven't broken 4 yet with this one. Heck, it was a last minute thing. But if you're gonna vote 1's & 2's, PLEASE leave some sort of a comment! Even if it's only 'this stinks!!'

I just got done with voting, and was surprised to see so many mediocre pictures. 3-9's
6-8's
12-7's, the rest fives and sixes, out of 400 entries. Has anybody else felt the same way, or was I just off in voting.
