Hi all
I need to convert roughly 450 RAW images into B&W and I can't seem to find a B&W conversion in the photoshop RAW pluggin. Is it possible? I really want to avoid opening each one individually. I want to save the setting in the RAW pluggin then do a batch.
thx!!!!

I've done it by just desaturating in the RAW pluggin (CS2). I can't remember if that was available in CS.

Yes, it's also available but I was wondering if I had other options. :P

If you can't find a way in Camera Raw then I'd advise converting them all first and saving them as colour files into the folder where you want the black and whites.
Then open one, tell Photoshop you want to record a new action, and then on the open image run through the steps to convert to black and white, using your preferred technique.
Then use the File Automate Batch command and set the folder as the one above, tell PS to use your new action and away it will go...

Thx Kavey.. but the problem with that is that I have to open every single image in the RAW plugin first and I'm trying to avoid this time consuming step. :-)

You can batch process from the RAW pluggin can't you? I haven't tried it but I thought I noticed that ability.

You can check out Russell Brown's tech tips. Look for his Image Processor and his RAW Photo Styler. |

You won't get good B & W results by batch processing all the photos with the same setting. Converting to B & W can be tricky if you want the right tones. Easier done for best results one by one unfortunately. |

Hi Nick
I was actually a studio setup shoot so the lighting is pretty much the same for most photos. I'll then tweek them individually if need be. :-)
