I was messing around with my 70-200mm 4L for that sharpest lens thread but when I got to looking at the colors and lighting of this flower just had to mess with it...how'd I do? I call it For those about to Rock...

That is a totally awesome shot!! Thanks for a giving me a great example to work towards (this is one of my favorite types of photos).
BTW - what type of flower is this? Amaryllis? Lily?

I believe they are called Day Lillies, does that sound right...they open up for one day and the next day they are a mess all wilted and gnarly... We have yellow ones and these really cool rusty red/yellow ones out front at work. This one had it's back to the sun that was shinning on only those little do-hickies in the center.

Yeah. That sounds like day lilies. Ours aren't quite blooming yet - I give 'em about 2 or 3 more weeks. I left a comment for you, and going back and looking again, the light falling on the stamens is what really makes this 'pop' as a photograph. Are you planning on making this one available as a print? If you are I'd definately be interested in it (assuming I can figure out the whole on-line payment thing - I am so slow when it comes to being 'in touch' with modern banking sometimes!!).

I like the lighting a lot. Maybe you could try a little local sharpening just on the pollen grains, to match the detail just below them.
