DPChallenge has conducted over 320 challenges, with each challenge inviting hundreds of entries. The total no.of photographs is more than a hundred thousands. I wonder what will we do with so many good images? Is there any worthwhile usage?

Yes, we should license the library for use in composite images
(you know, where they take a bunch of photos and make Darth Vader from the single images)
; ) |

Many of us would probably think that the way they are being used right now is quite worthwhile.
And there are only a little over 100,000 images, not millions. You can see the exact figures by clicking About in the menu under Help.

Not much real commercial use considering they are low resolution shots, with the exception of those that have print ordering enabled. |

According to the TOS there isn't much DPC (or anyone) can "do" with them except promote the DPC site, without getting an additional commercial license/release from each submitter (unlikely). |

And that's exactly the way it should be. |

Most commercial magazines need photos, which are often less than full page size. Thay rarely need anything more than 100-150KB images. |

I think that's what stock agencies are for. I hope that no magazine dares to grab images from this site to print them without authorization. |

Exactly. Quite a few people from here post to various kinds of stock agencies; here is my gratuitous link to Shutterstock -- one of the more popular Royalty-Free sites (small payout, rely on volume sales). There are also many Rights-Managed sites, where the payout is much higher, but you usually need a substantial portfolio of high-quality and large-sized images (point-and-shoot owners need not apply). Compare before you sign up anywhere.

Maybe DPC could put all the top 25 in each challenge on a DVD and make it for sale. I think it would be nice to put in you DVD Player and watch a slide show to music. Hey it will be able to let you see trends as well if they put it in dated order. Interesting!!!!! |

With some of the photographers we've got here? I can hear the demands for royalty payments, squabbles about how much more X deserves because of their ribbon collection/superior experience/L lens habit, and general all round mayhem already ; ) |

... and not all photographers would agree to their challenge entries being on sale. |
