I shot this for moods. It said that I had to shoot something that captures an emotion. The emotion I captured was anger...loosing a game always made me angry. Anyways...I accomplished a goal...last place. Thanks guys.

You barely eked out a victory over this one:
I find it kind of odd, actually. Here's how my thinking goes; My shot is a blurred snapshot of a moment of intense irritation (got me tossed from my neighbor's house, LOL, this was all I brought back) so it's an actual capture of "irritation", a true mood. Now at the same time I decided to process this snapshot in a noirish sort of way in an attempt to make it evoke a mood of irritation in viewers.
Evidently I succeeded in this. The image pretty well pissed people off, LOL.
Now (this is the catch-22) if it's TITLED "Irritation" and if it IRRITATES you to boot, then doesn't that mean it worked?
Ah, well... It was fun.
Robt.

I thought it looked like "sandpaper" which is...crude, rough, irritating... |

i like how you only find the comments that praise the photo helpful. if you dont pay attentition and learn from criticism you wont get better. the people that leave the comments arent trying to be mean. I love comments that tell me how to improve, because im here to learn and if all i hear is "good job" and "nice" i wont learn anyhting. i leave comments to help the user understand how i voted and why i voted, and how i would have improved the shot.
Good luck in the future |

I don't think "doesn't meet the challenge" or "is this a mood?" is helpful. And the first comment that said that I didn't have enough focus, well I shot it like that on purpose with a 2.8 aperture. People just didn't see a face in it and gave it a low score, but if you give it half a thought you can see that the emotion is anger. I didn't shoot a person again on purpose to be different than other shots...but at the same time knew that most people wouldn't be able to get by the fact that a person wasn't in it. I know that other shots that didn't have people in the shots did much better than mine, but they also had the emotion as the title making it much easier for the voter to see what to look for. It truly doesn't bother me anymore getting low scores...my shots just don't do well here, most of the time. Cause I shoot them for me.
The reason for me posting in the first place was to revel in winning the brown which might be crazy but has been something I wanted to do once. Now it's done...so no more!! Hahah

Zoinks! I liked it, it evoked anger from me, but you have to read the comment I gave it to undersatnd why:
"OMG, this brings back memories of bad moods. Very creative. After nearly five years of playing this with my wife at the cottage and never winning a single game, only coming close, she finally admitted to me that she'd moved her ships every time I was close to winning! Great lighting and dof on your shot!"
Sorry, I almost ruined your brown, I gave you a good score.

when i took this i was really excited about it...i still feel pretty good about it...the comments that were made that told me how to improve the picture were very helpful....the ones that just told me they didnt get it or i chose the wrong title and mood were opinions that i took into consideration....every photo i enter i have learned so much from all of you...and once i again i thank you all |

another way to look at the "does not meet the challenge" comments -- YOU (the photog) think it does. others (even one) do not. is there something you could have done to make your message clearer?
