Here's a couple from yesterday. This is a 4-week-old raccoon, she was left in a box at the door of a nature center that my cousin works at. She has some complications from being out in the cold (possible pneumonia), but seems healthy and has a good shot at survival. Right now she's being hand-fed and cared for, and she's an absolute delight.
Raccoons are very intelligent, and are sociable and affectionate when young, but they tend to get aggressive as they mature.

Oh, how precious! I used to know a couple people who kept racoons as pets and would walk them along the boardwalks at Hermosa Beach. But I know they can be quite vicious, also. Thanks for the photos!!

We used to rehabilitate raccoons for NJ, same as your cousin. Since then year after year they're a part of the family so to speak. They come to the house for some treats and to show off the new generation. This past fall I had 14 raccoons on my porch at one time. My own personal zoo.
Hope this little one makes it. Lots of them are orphaned each year from the mothers being hit by cars. :-( Cute pictures!
