I just got a pair of headphones and all the stuff for the left speaker comes out the right ear and vice versa. This is really annoying when playing games that require sound to locate your enemies. There are 2 plugs, one for the mic and one for the sound. Each of them only work in 1 hole in the back of my computer.

Is there any way to swap the speakers?

(Yes I am wearing them the right way, the mic doesnt go the other way.

You might try first double checking that the plugs are seated properly. Then whatever sound card you are using should have a mixer function. I don't ever remember seeing a swap channel setting but yours may have one. Most likely though the headphones were probably assembled incorrectly and you'll probably have to return them.

EDIT: Apparently the Audigy line has a setting for reversing stereo. If you have one it may have gotten set somehow.

This would be dependent upon your sound card driver, not on Windows.

I'm assuming you can't just flip them--the mic may not "go the other way" but might the phones themselves be able to?

Never heard of anything like this and i've been around a few soundcards myself. So it's like this all the time, or just in the game? I hate to say it but you could always build a channel swap box.

apparently I can do it with my soundcard... Maybe you can with yours too.

I had a headphone reverse problem playing Half Life2 that was a bit different. Front was back and back was front (not left to right). If I turn around from someone talking I would hear them as if facing them, and visa versa. Real Bummer. I checked connections and settings and never did find a solution. My sound card is Audigy2 and have all the driver updates and patches. I do not have this trouble with any other game and assume it is a problem with the game. I am open to suggestions...

clicker,

this may sound dumb, but if you can reverse L/R channels in the audio properties, do that and wear the headphones flipped - that should flip the F/R for you.

I hope this helps and works, too.

For the audigy cards, I believe there is a "wizard" that runs during the initial set-up of the card that allows you to test operation of 2.1 (stereo), 5.1 and with some cards 7.1 surround systems. I can't find a way to access these settings after installation, but I assume the wizard could be re-run. As I recall, you're asked where sounds are coming from and from your answers the card configures itself.

You should be able to do it through your sound card effects.

Mine just has a check box to check to reverse.

I have an Audigy card too, but I can't find how to run the wizard. I thought initially that it was a Half-Life 2 or Counter Strike Source problem, but when I go to windows sound mixer and move everything to the left, it comes out the right, so it's a problem everywhere. I'll keep trying to figure out how to run this wizard...

Umm.... Cant you turn the headset around? 99.9% of the headphones you can turn around.. and sometimes it takes gentle persuasion to move the mic around. If not, Ben, you may have just gotten a bad set of headphones and need to take them back.

The ear pieces are at an angle so if you turn it round they don't fit :( I'm guessing they're just dodgy!

do you have a different pair that you can try to see if its the computer or the headset? (maybe borrow for a few minutes)

Its definately the headset :(

is the headset and mic all on one plug or do you plug it in seperately??? I had a walkman do that once and the only thing that would fix it was to replace the input jack. To use it at work tho I just pulled it out a hair and that seemed to fix it temp.

The mic is a different plug to the headset. I'll try pulling it out slightly, thanks for the suggestion :)

Update: This stops it coming out the wrong ear, but makes it come out of both so there is no stereo capability. For playing Counter-Strike its quite important to have stereo. It's half way there tho, thanks!

Ben, My Audigy2 card has a diagnostics check. I go to Programs - Creative - Creative Diagnostics... If not, check your install and application disc and see if you can run the wizzard from there.
