Hi,
I hope someone can give me some advice.
I am planning on showing an Australian store here in WA some of my photocards with Australian scenes. I wondered if I should just give them a sample, and if they are interested, they can then buy some at a certain cost.
OR
Should I just sell a few at a discount to begin with, and then sell at full price should they require more?
Thanks in advance! |

I dont know what it is like in Australia, but here in Iowa, people tend to be cheap when it comes to art, so my opinion is sell at normal rate and then decrease price the more they buy IE: they buy 1 at $4, 3 at $8, and 10 at $20 (insert your price, but you get the picture).
But if you are doing it for exposure and want them to come back for larger prints, then it might be a good idea to sell them cheap and give them info for buying larger prints. I know photographers that use postcards as advertisements and give them out for free.
But that is just me, and im sure iowa is alot different than Australia...
Good luck

I have never sold my photos, but I think you should leave a sample with the store owner/manager along with a price list. I would set a "retail" price (what you think the photos should sell for in the store) and then leave a price list of how much you will charge the store for buying in various quantities. |

sorry, I saw Australia and automatically assumed.... Washington should still be different than Iowa. Iowa is more conservative so art is a driving force here, i dont know about WA

Hehehe... the funny thing is that WA is an abbreviation for the state of Western Australia.... so you're confusion is pretty easily forgiven (I would have thought the same!). |

Yes, I saw my mistake when you thought I was in Aust. Oopsie.
Thanks for the info, I'm just about to head out shortly. The price list was a good idea. Hopefully I don't chicken out and say "I'll do it next time" |
