Out of 114 images in the dream challenge only 16 are in black and white. In researching material online I found an interesting quote: "Studies show that those who are in tune with color in waking life tend to remember more color in dreams as well.".

Does this mean that photographers remember more color in dreams then other people? How many here on DPC remember more color dreams vs. black and white?

Just curious....

I don't remember any b/w dreams. But some colours like peach pink red and green do dominate my dreams.

I don't remember a specific B/W dream but I def remember first dream I had in color...not sure if I'd just had no MEMORY of a prior dream be it B/W or otherwise...but only in color since then..and that was like age 4 maybe 5?

My dreams tend to be more mundane, everyday happenings. Always in color.

My hubby and I were just talking about this. For many years scientists said people do not dream in color but actually add the color in later during "recall". (Of course scientist would say they that. They probably dream in black & white - no creativity LOL)
All joking aside according to A DREAM FAQ :
Virtually all dreams are in color. For a long time it was thought that only a fraction of the population dreamed in color, and these people were said by many to represent the more creative of our population, but this is not true. Most dreams contain color, but take place in a dim half-light such as we normally experience under moonlight.

My dreams tend to be blurry, with lots of noise and oversharpening halo's. The colors always seem a bit off and the subjects hardly ever follow the rule of thirds. Does anyone know of a good book to help me post process my dreams? ;-)

I always remember my dreams in color. I cant think of any that arent except for one after I saw Sin City. That was in b&w, very dick tracy feel to it.

They use to be more surreal i.e. (running from barney, or fighting nazis with a ninja kama), but now I seem to have more real to life love stories. Maybe I need a girlfriend, or ive been watching to many romantic movies lately like Closer and The Shape of Things (if you can call them romances)

Maybe Ive just been watching too many movies... (Thats what I get for wotking at a movie theatre)

I have dreamt in both color and B&W and usually only remember very little or one particular thing about the dream. What I want to know is what the difference between a dream and a nightmare is and would people view them the same for this challenge??? Also what would you call a dream that turns into a nightmare???

Strange, I read someplace, a long time ago, that we usually dream in b&w or in very very washed out colors.
Well, never tried to resaearch that again so perhaps some things changed since. And on a side note - it had nothing to do with my entry. LOL

And as for my own dreams, if funny. I have no idea if they are in b&*w or colors, because I never remember colors.
I have a photographic memory. I remember things by the way they looks and the way they are placed in the space. But I never remember their colors!

I rarely remember my dreams anymore. But I remember this one dream (nightmare) that I had when I was about 13 or 14. The dream was a cheap black and white movie with scratches on the film. The movie was kinda like "Faces of death" wich me and my friends had seen a few weeks before. I woke up in sweat when the movie showed me and my friends from high school dead in the woods behind our school.

But most of the time I dream in colors, I guess since I don't recall anything special about them when I wake up.

wow cblack i finally agree with you...LOL...my best dreams are during that time too...i just think that too many entries here were a nice photo that can fit the challenge as opposed to going out and shooting a picture that truly represents something you might dream about...

not trying to start a war here just stating and opinion...no effect on my voting...oh im going to regret posting this i bet

Hmmm, I dream in colour when I dream about things I like. If it is a dream about bad things then I dream in black and white. I have had dreams where they flip back and forth, but most of the time, I do not remember my dreams once I wake up.

Most of the images I've seen sofar are quite good and do represent dreams in one way or the other...you can really read them which is so nice. Color or b/w doesn't really make a difference imo. About post processing a dream, I've actually managed to go back to sleep and continue dreaming a nice dream ofcourse :)

I have no idea whether I dream in colour or B&W. When I wake up I remember what's happened but not what it looked like.

I can't be sure if I dream in colour or B&W or ven both, but I definitely remember some colour from some dreams. Whenever I saw fire in my dreams, it was definitely in colour. There are other things that I am sure weren't B&W.
