I decided to play with some color in the lighting for last night's set. Here are the images I initially edited. Comments/critiques welcome.

The first is nice Kev. It's looks to be a bit of a change from your normal work. I like all the colors.

Not too sure about the third one. The blue seems a little out of place to me...more like an accidental color cast, rather than intentional lighting.

You know I have no expertise at all, just commenting on how they strike me.

First one looks great, especially the perspective. Wonder if the hat could be brought out more? Second is my favorite of the bunch. Third one is a really nice portrait, except that I am quite distracted by the bright white reflection on her lower lip. Fourth seems to be less brightly lit than the others, but I like the pose.

Thanks for posting these; she's a beauty!

I doubled up a couple of blue gels and put 'em over the bulb in one of the medium softboxes. I put that light off to the right as fill and dropped it by 2 stops from the light on the left. I was going for some blue-tinged highlights in the shadowed areas. I thought it might give a cooler feeling in those areas that tend towards red/brown hues. For better or worse it was a conscious effort to get the blue in there.

Thanks

Nova,

Thanks for the comments. Surprisingly I like the 2nd shot best of the ones I've edited so far, too. Sadly it wasn't the exact color mixture I was going for but I learned something on that. The first was pretty much exactly what I envisioned beforehand so I expected to like it better but I already see a few things that could be improved in it to make it cleaner.

Thanks again,

Kev

Second pic is my fav as well. High points for her smile which is legit and not 'fake'. It gives a hell of a lot of credit to the picture in that aspect.

Very nice work Mate,
