OMG, yup, that's him, dirty face and all. Holy crap, this is too funny... it's almost scary! What are the odds? He was having a blast there running around like an airplane. He's a handful, but I love him. Now I have to go back through all my photos and see if there's one with you in the background. Were you wearing your hat or remember what color top you had on?

*Note to any Child Service workers here: I really do take care of him, but he was enjoying some free ice cream just before this was shot and they didn't have any napkins readily available. lol

I know, Raul! I am so excited to have clarity!! It's not 100%, but it's really really good. Now, if I only had a good lens! Haha.

It is too funny that I took a photo of Telehubbie's son! I got a few good ones of the cop and some little girl nearby too! I love natural portraits :)

Did anyone see/shoot the WWII bombers at the Hawthorne airport?
05/09/2005 01:41:32 PM · #82
I didn't even know the bombers were on display. I wish I could find a comprehensive and reliable calendar of these types of events/showings.

I did find this...

There's a show this Sunday called Rockin’ AirFest 2005 in Van Nuys with some old bombers on display and a formation flyby of an F-16 and a P-51. They have some bands playing too. Here's a link for info:

Van Nuys Airshow

Thanks Telehubbie,
I might try to attend this one. Am I reading it wrong, or does it say the event is at the Van Nuys Airport and also calls it LAX??? a blunder?

Aaah, no blunder! The shindig is starting at LAX and going on a national tour for Bob Hope's 100th birthday. Bob Hope Hollywood USO at LAX.

Then they take the show to the Van Nuys airport.

I wonder why they didn't do it at the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport, Officially known as the "Bob Hope" airport. Wouldn’t that make more sense?

(gringo thinks too much)

i like planes :)

(Sandman doesn't think enough)

Good info. would be cool to catch some of those nice planes for the silhouette challenge.

Hey,
I thought this was not a meet up thread!
Anyway, I saw some WWII bomber at Hawthorne airport last Sunday, so I'm a bit burnt out on plains. Plus I've scheduled myself to attend a Renaisance fair by Irwindale (seeing as we're posting places to meet up and shoot, ha ah). I tried my Tokina 12-24 at the airport, and dare I say it? It was maybe too wide. Should have used the kit lens. I went outside at 6PM and shot around Pasadena since the clouds were sooooo nice. Shot at f 11 and the corners were resonably sharp at 100% crop, not L sharp but not too bad either. Guess I'll keep using the kit lens.

Well Raul,
If you look at my profile, you can see one shot I took at the LA zoo. I'm using it as my profile pic.

Cool.. what lens was that shot with?

Soooo your lens is to wide enough for ya eh? I think my kit lens will do. Then pick up the nikon 50mm 1.4 and maybe a better zoom later. I don't think i have i need for a fisheye.

The tiger shot was with my Sigma 70-300 APO II, arguably the best consumer grade 70-300. I recommend it. As for the Tokina being too wide, it really depends on what you are going to use it for. My 18-55 kit serves architechtural needs just fine. If I'm going to the Grand Canyons or shooting skyscrapers, then maybe the Tokina would be better. If you are on a budget, I'd recommend the Zenitar 16mm for about $140 and a 50mm 1.8, not a 1.4.

I just got back from my vacation. I took over 700 photos! Devon (my friend from FL), Bobby & I went to Joshua Tree, Sedona, Jerome, The Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam & Las Vegas. I'll be post-processing for over a week!

Hey everyone,
Please look at the Out and about section for the Queen Mary. I'm sorry to say that the deal for tickets is falling apart on me.

I need to buy one of those sensor blowers. Tom, where did you get yours? What's it called again? Also, I need some good sensor swabs. Any suggestions? Something not too expensive...

Samy's, I can't remember their name but it's grenade shaped with a red tube. It's there.

I'm a sick pup. Two straight days of shooting, over 300 shots processed in half a day, and I still want to go shooting. Last weekend was the first weekend where I shot extensively with all 6 of my lenses. And now I'm thinking about the Sigma 50-500 for zoos? Is there no end in sight?

pictures, picture, let's see your pictures. The Tamron 24-135 seems to get good reviews. I'm interested in seeing what your shots look like.

I took more, but I chimped (that is looking at the LCD through your shots going "ooh ooh, aah aah." So I deleated some that I didn't like. It would have been a bit more if I hadn't Chimped.
