In Tribute to Douglas Adams...
Any shot that:
a) references hitchiking
b) galaxy/outer-space
c) Douglas Adams
d) references in the novel (Fords, Towels, Bob) |

I'd love it, but it's a pretty arcane reference for a general-interest topic. I wonder what percentage of our members have read the book(s)?

with a major motion picture out now, it's gotten less arcane. it would probably make a better speed challenge or bonus challenge, though.
we did do a Matrix challenge in celebration of those movies, though.

Make it a "Open Challenge"
It will provide an open challenge that might be arcane enough not to garner 500+ entries.... ;) |

Books 1 and 2 are very good. I can't seem to stay awake on the 3rd. Fell asleep 3-4 times. I'll try again in few weeks.

The fifth book, Mostly Harmless is probably the best read.... |

Has anyone seen the movie yet? It premiered on Friday, but I haven't made it there yet.
Hopefully I'll get to go in the next week or so - I'll be SURE to bring my towel.
A challenge could be fun in a few weeks from now when people have had a chance to see the movie or - better still - feel inspired to read the books. |

Saw it yesterday: it is quite good, though it really misses out on story narrative, and most of the best bits are drawn straight from the books. The new bits are less engaging (partly because you think: that wasn't in the book, or that is a hotchpotch of ideas from several books at several points) and partly because there is a slight Hollywood twist (love story vamped up unnecessarily). Very stylish, but just not as funny as the books were to read.
