ok.... here's the beef. I am trying to make a photo from my 10D (shot in raw) an 8x 10. It is currently an 8.5x 12.8. When I crop off just a little from the top... NONE from the edges, it changes to 6.8 x 9.76. WHY??? Why does the width change at all if I didnt crop it at all??? How do people make their photos a standard size??? HELP! I did a photo shoot of a friend's daughter, and I'm getting them ready for printing... HELP!

are you using PS?
If you are, put in dimensions in the toolbox at the top of PS. Set it to the 8x10 dimension you want and then crop. Use the CTRL key to have more control.

Post what printer that might help someone help you.
Can you freely change proportions? |

Hi,
Here's another beef. Why is it that some labs say they print an 8 x 10, but the pic ends up slightly smaller? Drives me nuts. By the way, I use a lab, not print from home. I do use photoshop CS. What does holding the control key do for control?

You have probably got the proportional resize feature enabled, not the free crop. Check your help topics for "resizing photos", that ought to get you set up.
Robt.
