i think it would cause a ruckus in the forums the same way getting a vote of 1 from someone does.
so that'll be about 5 new threads at the end of each challenge with someone shouting and calling the "tick" -ers "trolls" |

All a "Does not meet the challenge" check box would do is start frivolous arguments. Commenters saying an image does not meet the challenge and photographers arguing that theirs does.
It is very rare that a photographer did not meet the challenge with their submission.
Unfortunately, what is far more common are voters that think they know better. It is best not to know either how many or who they are.

E.g., for challenge XYZ I might get:
Place: 192 out of 193
Avg (all users): 3.509
Does Not Meet the Challenge Checks (all users): 72
Avg (commenters): 5.429
Avg (camera): 3.502
Avg (no camera): 2.500
Votes: 275
Comments: 14
Favorites: 0 |
Even more informative:
Avg (DNMTC): 2.345
Avg (MTC): 5.233
and then a tally in your profile:
Has checked DNMTC for 234 challenge entries :)
All in all, I like this idea. I should be simple to code in, and gives valuable info.
IMO not checking DNMTC means that it does. maybe not very well, but does none the less.

Basically, the issue is how many people vote you down for not meeting the challenge but leave no comment because they don't want to get in an argument about it. The proposal is an anonymous checkbox for this purpose, so am entrant can see if his "low" score was the result of voters, collectively, feeling he did not meet the challenge. It would be anonymous, just a stat, and some of us think it might be helpful. Others, obviously, don't agree.

When you're voting. EVERYTHING is a matter of "opinion", basically...

Being someone who has submitted more than 1 photograph that "did not meet the challenge" there is usually no shortage of voters willing to tell me so.(I not complaining about this by the way) In the light on white challenge I had 4 out of 18 comments questing if the photo was meeting the challenge or not. I really think most of us know if our photos are meeting the challenge, and there will always be at least one person out there who thinks you didn't. Instead of adding check boxes or the like I would rather see programs like the current invitational challenge used on an ongoing basis. Not something that is announced that if you do this by this time you can enter, but a program that rewards participating members who vote, comment, and even post to the forums.
