Say I were to take a portrait, and then split the portrait in 3 sections. After I would make one section black and white, one section normal, and the third section would have some sort of other twist to it. Would that be legal under the Advanced Rules? I saw an image in a magazine today that sparked my interest and wondered if that would be ok here.

My personal opinion is that it would probably be OK. From your description, it sounds similar to the technique used for this shot.

Absolutely legal IMO.

I can't personally think of any reason that it would not be legal. My own opinion, of course.

well, I wouldn't want to say you can go as far as EddyG's shot. Though it was validated, it doesn't necessarily reflect current SC policy on DQ. I would say you're not doing anything that is by the letter going against the rules, but depending on what and how you do it, you might run afoul of the "major elements" rule. Seek an opinion on your shot after you've processed it from the SC-- that might be the safest route for you.
