I shot a communion this morning , and I checked all of my gear , I shot about 75 pics , But the last ten or so my 20d started to crap out , It just wouldnt shot the top screen kep going on and off I started to panic ( on the inside ) I racked my brain to figure out what was going on . So I lost a few good pics ,You don't know how pissed I was . It winds out to be a slightly loose grip that I didnt realize .So for all you guys that shoot with a grip make sure it is really tight |

I thought that there was a re-design of that grip. Is yours an early one? I remember seeing a lot of complaints early on about exactly the same thing.

Hi-ho,
I've found mine is really good, although I do check it for tightness as part of my 'Gear Check' if I'm going to a planned event/shoot.
There were lots of comments about the grip being a bit shoddy in forums on this site, and others, but I've not had any of the problems with it that were described.. Although if you loosen it off a little and are shooting with the vertical grip and a heavy lens it will disconnect on you, giving the problem you had.
I read on one site about putting a 'shim' up one side of the bit that goes inside the battery area to pack it out, and stop it disconnecting. You might want to google a bit for that if it really annoys you, and you're shooting with 10 tonne lenses.
Cheers, Chris H.

I have the Grip for the Rebel and have heard about power going out if the connections are loose on the grip. As a result, I always check for tightness of the grip before I start shooting. I've never noticed it to be loose though. The same thing happens if you don't securely close the battery compartment door if you are not using the grip. NOte to all Canon users, if your power goes out all of a sudden, first check your battery connection.

I got it at the same time as the camera a month ago, and so far, everything's perfect, and it makes the camera a lot more confortable if you got big hands. I couldn't go without it now. Gotta get a strap for my hand tho. soon... soon... mouahahaha [/url] |

I forgot that bit, My little pinky falls off the bottom of the camera if I don't have it on. :-). Although my wife dosn't mind either way as she's got smaller hands...
