This one's been giving me fits in post processing... Best I've come up with so far:

So, are you going to post the original so everyone else can play with it? I'd try my hand, but I'm at work and they only have Microsoft Paint on this computer.
I like the picture though. |

More like where you were trying to go?
(I assume the white surf was the issue)

Sorry, I losttrack of this. Here's the original. No, it's not the white surf that was my issue, thanks Brad. I just feel like there's more to be had from this image, visually, than I'm getting. The wind was like 50 mph, the sand was flying, the shooting was difficult.
Feel free to take a crack at it, inspire me.

OK, I took a crack at it.
Go figure - I broke it!

And the "non-cracked" version:
Not sure what you envision in the final outcome.
Just a different look to think about. |

Brad,
That's the best I've seen so far, it's gained considerable luminosity in the waves. I had no preconception how I wanted this to look, at the time I was just shooting gulls in action (with minimalism in mind) and was having a hard enough time simply getting them in the frame with my damned shutter lag.
So how did you get the luminosity here? I think I got off track in my PP, then I just pretty well got frustrated with it.

Dunno - just clicked the crap out of PS CS2.
LOL
Actually I had to cut it short as I had to tend to an engine running here and kinda' wasn't happy with the amount of Cyan still in there.
I did use levels, & the shadow/highlight tool, then did a bunch of Hue/Saturation tweaks on the Yellow, Blue & Cyan. Obvious clean-up of debris, minor burn of shadow side of waves to give it depth, minor sharpening of wave edge white areas to make them pop a bit more. |
