Somehow being involved with people who are creative and intelligent seems to satify some reasons or needs. Below are some other reasons.

1. Capture mundane subjects and turn them into digital art.
2. See things more real and intense.
3. The need to be validated for your work.
4. Left brain, right brain tug of war.
5. Never ever being able to see what the camera see's.
6. The need to own expensive pieces of camera gear.
7. Working toward owning the best camera until the next one comes by.
8. 15 Billion people in the world only a few "hundred good photographers".
9. Making eye contact with a fellow photographer on the street.
You know the "nod".
10. Having nightmares that someone stole your best camera. I think that is normal, no?
Any thoughts?

For me, I love to get a vision in my head (they just pop in there randomly all the time) and create an image of it. I used to draw cartoons (mostly satire and parody), but digital photography and image editing capabilities really help me express those visions much better and much faster.

I basically make pictures to help the heart remember.

Why do I like photography?

Nothing in life is a guarantee,
so I take pictures that appeal to me.
One day that something may not be,
but I choose to capture and save to CD.
Now for years to come I can see,
that moment in time that appealed to me.

Well said that man...

I pour over other peoples work, trying to see what I like, and trying to see how they take their photos. //www.photo.net is an amazing reasource. It constantly shows me what is possible, and I strive to create images that would touch the coat tails of the more creative and skilled artists on there, and many other sites (including dpc).

I crave cirtique ane critsisim. More the critisism these days. A good photo-bashing is great to keep my ego in check, and helps me see where I can improve my technique and/or 'vision'.

I capture memories, moments in time trapped in technicolour. As Robert said, to help the heart remember. For myself I take photos of happy times and sad times. Our Baby laughing and growing up, when she cries from the pains of teething. I only share these photos with my closest friends, and we remember, we laugh and we cry.

- And I could go on... But someone's just knocked on the door...

Cheers, Me.

12. The hopes that someday you'll run into a fine looking lady that wants you to do some nude photo shoots? ;-)

I just like the feeling when someone says " You didn't take that" when You know you did. I guess its a backhanded compliment.

maybe it's because I'm not much for verbally describing things. i'd rather show people what i see from my perspective, and let the image do the talking.

To capture a moment in time, each moment is special.

So you can look at that photo years later and remember how you felt at that exact moment, the sounds, smells, sites etc...

Life is short and slips away so fast,
without photos there is no past.
