It means no one has responded recently to the thread and someone thinks there are people who may not have seen the very-most-interesting topic and need to see it. They don't necessarily have anything to add, so they just write "bump". This has the effect of raising the thread to the top of the active in the last 24 hours and community lists....until other threads go "bump" and it falls down a bit.

It makes it show up again at the top of the list.

(I usually put "shameless bump" on my own threads.)

Minimalism, catches the inner eye of the observer, and makes them think a though, that artist is trying to convey and the outer eye cannot prove.
