"Two Faced"

edit to add...I did help the sky a tiny bit for this look, but mostly that's the way it was in the original. Big dark clouds rolling in as I took this, and big bright ones not far behind. It was a wierd cloud day.

A very interesting take because of the angle. As you know, you can improve the quality of the image by hanging around a while to obtain a more balanced light image. Like waiting for the darker masses of cloud to roll by and give you the perfect light. Well, even as it is a nice shot.

It was a grab shot (I was actually trying for a nice photo of the courthouse across the street with some dramatic clouds) and I walked around this darn clock for 4 or 5 minutes probably trying to decide which side worked best. Personally, I like the light difference on the two sides, as opposed to a very even lighting.

I appreciate the comments! Thank you!

Okay...thanks for your comments. Do you like this edit better? I do! I agree, the left light was too bright. I also decided I didn't care for the somewhat puple tint, so I changed the hue a bit. What do you think?

I like both tones. They are both complimentary to your subject.
Please don't take this wrong but I'm having a hard time getting past your borders. I really don't feel that it needs to have any color around it. Maybe a dull white or black. The subject and clouds are strong subjects as is and the border draws my eye away from it. Just me, I guess.
It's a great photo and I really like it. What I want to know the most though is "What time is it really?" ;D

The second version is better. It's a very nice shot. I'd agree that the colored border is counter-productive. One thing I notice is an odd darkening of the clock face rims right where they touch the sky. Makes me wonder if your burning overlapped, or is that a natural effect? If it IS the burning, try making a selection of the clock then inverting it and burning in the sky selection. This would keep the face pure.

Robt.
