Do we just shoot pics of people when we see what we like or do we need to ask for their permission first,,some people dont like to be photogrphed especially if they know it will be on the net,,not to mention that if youo ask I just not sure it would be the same,,,oh well I am just curious

legally speaking, unless it is for editorial use (newspapers, etc) you need a model release signed by the person. Not that anyone here is that picky...
One person I know was thinking of scenic shot - i was thinking a person as well until he mentioned that..."Take a picture that captures an emotion." - nowhere does it say it has to be a person.

Best to capture the moods of those around you and people you know. But profate is correct the challenge is not limited to people.

The challenge topic and the challenge description almost seem to contradict each other in the same way that Minimalism did.
I can imagine capturing a mood in a landscape, but not sure about capturing an emotion in one. You can have an emotional response to a landscape but that isnt technically capturing an emotion. Perhaps a rock with a seeming frown or something maybe. I would think someone would have to feel in order to portray an emotion. But I'm perfectly open to being considered wrong.
So which has more importance... the challenge topic or the description? |

ps- just razzin ya, Slip. I like 'em. very creative, more personal and funnier than punctuation marks. Hmmm, that could be your tagline:
Strikeslip: He's funnier than punctuation marks!

On that note - how do you make it so the signature is always on? I couldn't find it in prefs and hate to have to check the box every time. Or does it stick once you do it the first time...? {{ thinks he may have answered his own question...}}

i actually was so excited that i found an idea for late night i shot and submitted it...then realized that the late night shot had to be outside...so i pulled knowing i would get ripped a new a-hole for it....then realized it worked even better for moods....sometimes the strangest things happen....good luck all....im still having the best time!!!!!! |

No rebuttal from me. I probly won't make it into this one, but some ideas come to mind that may not be great ideas, but examples without people:
- Divorce papers on the kitchen table with tear drops or stains or a gun. ;-)
- A fist-sized hole in the wall and something nearby that would indicate something that incited anger
- Graveyard scenes (although I'm personally a little burned out on cemeteries)
- Still-life of flowers and a gift or something
just some thoughts
