Laptop seems to be the easiest if you already have one.

I love my portable hard drive from //www.kanguru.com now they make cd burners //www.kanguru.com/fcrw.html too that run on rechargables...wish I could afford that baby. My hard drive is a little slow with my raw files (that could be my card too) but I shot on one while the other copies. I highly recommend these for anyone that needs lots of room for pictures.

Not sure where you get 1000 photos. It would be more like 300. But yes, it is good I shoot digital.

Oh, right...RAW...that sounds more reasonable!

You can switch from RAW to JPEG from time to time, to give you some extra pics. I get about 140 or so RAW on my 1 GIG card.

Some people download the pictures to a portable storage device, like this for example: //www.photo.net/equipment/digital/tripper/

heatherd, those look great but they are a little out of my price range right now. My old camera would burn the pics right on mini cd's so I am very worried I will run out of memory with my new cam. Over a mx weekend I would normally take close to 2000 pics.

I'm scared, somebody hold me....lol.

Like you, I have to save up for one of these too. I guess the only thing I can suggest is to delete any shots that don't look good at the end of the day. Have fun on your hols!

The race is at the end of May so I have a little time, but then again not much extra cash to save before then : (
