Do you burn to DVD's?
What software do you use?
What DVD's do you use?

I have Sonic that came with my PC and I kind of miss my old Roxio.

I Have had some problems with dvd burning. But I presume you are talking about just copying your photos to dvd.

I know use Nero 6.x and it is very good. It lets you make backups periodically and has an option of just adding what's new.

But most of my problems are when I do a compilation of photos like a movie with background music, titles, etc. in some programs, like Ulead Video Studio 8 (wich is great) and sometimes I watch it in the pc and it woun't play in my home cinema. Don't know why. Sometimes I think that is the brand of the dvds, sometimes I don't see any correlation. Still I can't say why.

:(
How Odd.....
I went through two Roxio DVD units. I took the first one back because I couldn't even make it burn a CD or a DVD. I hated it. They replaced it with one that worked as bad. I just threw it in the garbage because I didn't feel right about giving it to someone.
I think it may have been a computer conflict or somesuch... I would have gladly given it away if I felt someone could make it work for them.

Now I use the Sonic and I haven't had a single problem in over 50 DVD's I don't like the software as much, but I just want to get the images burned to the storage and go take pictures.
I've been using RITEK DVD's without any trouble at all, but I wouldn't say they are any better or worse than any other brand. Now that everything is working well. I don't think about it much.

Nero OEM SUITE. Works great, and never had a problem.

I burn PhotoCDs using Nero so that I can view my photos offline in ACDSee.

I use Apple's built in CD burner: File > Burn Disc and Verbatim or Memorex DVDs.

I use Nero Ultra. I think the all the DVD authoring I have tried are a bit lacking. Nero does a decent job.

Nero on my PCs and Apple's built in DVD burner on my Mac. The Mac setup is two step easy. No bullshit software to open, just drag, drop and burn. I use whatever DVDs happen to be cheapest at the momment. Never had a problem. (Knock on wood.)

I use RecordNow DX (free with burner) to burn photos and have used Sonic and Ulead Movie Factory SE to author dvd movies, though my computer hates the latter 2 software packages. I have a Sony drive - doesn't like Memorex for some reason, so I usually use Maxell or Sony discs.

I have found Retrospect to be a great backup tool.

It's $99 for home, and there is a bit of a learning curve. But it is GREAT at doing progressive backups (where only files that are new or have been modified get backed up). And it uses DVDs as a backup medium.

It might be overkill, but I use it on the server at work and was familiar with it. I would never be able to keep track of all of my backup discs otherwise.

i use different programs depending on what i'm doing. If I'm ripping a movie then I use 1 program and if I'm making a photo cd then I use another.
