Hey all,

I shot this from over 100 outtakes, and I realized after that my computer was in the computer fix-it place, getting de-virused. Yesterday, I got my computer back - to late to submit it to the Rock-Paper-Scissors challenge, but I edited the photo anyway, and bordered it and stuff, here it is on the homepage of my site, can you please give some feedback on it, I tried super hard to get it in tip-top shape, (for a beginner).

The photo was done as a double-exposure. I did this in complete darkness, (except for my lava-lamp, to see what I was doing). I had two lights plugged into an extension cord with a flip switch on it, and then I used a sheet of poster board for the background. I had a homemade comtraption, where, I covered one side of the lens, put the scissors in position, eye-balling it, (actually, I looked through a straw taped to the top of my camera, and alligned the joint of the scissors through that), and then flicked the lights on and off with the switch. I then covered the open part of the lens and opened the covered part, and did the same thing with my hand instead. (I alligned the joint of my two fingered through the straw as well). As you can probably tell, it was a very frustrating and elongated shoot. The end product was a shot with one side a little darker. I just adjusted the contrast and brightness and did other simple PP to fix the ugly shot.

I hope you like it, and Thanks in advance,

Simon

I love it but I think the center with the white would have been better if your could have created a merged effect from metal to fingers.

Nice shot I bet it would have done really well too.

Deducting points cuz there's no rock or paper. ;-)

just kidding.

I agree about the white spot. A tighter merging and sharper focus would've made it better. Not sure how well it would've done - easier to say when the challenge is finished and we see what went over well.

Good work though.

Whoa, quick reponses, and thanks from the Rebel club, lol.

Ya, the most difficult part was alligning the two objects, and getting the exposures right for each time I flicked the lights on and off. Anyway, thanks for the comments.

I don't even try that stuff with the camera as it seems pointless when you can create the image so easily in PS. I am impressed when people can do it with the camera and those type of shots done well have scored high in challenges - but why? What's the point? To me, the end result is what matters most and I am all for taking the shortest route and using all tools available to get it. Otherwise it's like saying "try doing this or that with one hand tied behind your back"

ok- said enough.

Thanks and Thanks, and kpriest, the reason to do this is to be able to submit these types of photos in dpchallenge challenges. Otherwise, photos PP'ed to this level would be disqualified. Check out 'Miracle in Basic Editing'. A great photo, of this kind.
