This may be a really dumb question, but here goes:

Is there a way to use my computer/internet to listen to a local FM radio station?

I know there are oodles of internet stations, but can I somehow listen to the same stations I would hear if I had a normal radio on?

You can listen via the internet only if the sataion provides streaming audio. Most of the commercial stations don't. You can go here and look up your local stations, and find out if they broadcast on the 'net.

Yes, she could purchase and install hardware... my post was simply intended to clarify that no hardware was necessary, IF the station(s) she is interested in brodcast their audio on the 'net.
