You're waiting for the ticks? That is year round here. Last weekend out in the swamp I pulled off 2 seed ticks and was bitten by about 23 redbugs. And that was after soaking down in DEET.

I take it you made it back from the store.

I tried to send you one, but it
fell and started burning things:

Sunroofs & convertibles....

I guess I'll keep the tics...when you compare them to rattlesnakes they don't seem that bad!

Marjo - Not sure of your geographic location, but sounds similar to mine...every heard of Timber Rattlers!? They're available in Central Virginia - know that one first hand. Pretty scary when you hear that rattle for the first time. WAY too many cooperheads around here also!!! Almost lost one of our dogs to a double bite (two cooperheads at once) last summer. Had a den under an old stump - had to burn them out...

Gotta love nature. ;^)

I'm in Ohio. I've heard there are timber rattlers in an area a little north of us but I've been fortunate to never have contact with any.
Is your dog okay, now?
04/22/2005 02:21:24 PM · #18
The dog is a Jack Russell. She is ok now, but she had to stay in for 6 weeks until the tissue and skin grew back. Thought for a while she was going to lose the leg there was so much damage. The venom just kind of "melts" the flesh - it's gross! The vet bill was around $1000!

Thanks for asking. ;^)
