Take a photo which uses or illustrates a creative technique described in a photography book (for example, Photography and the Art of Seeing by Freeman Patterson). You must describe the technique, and name the book and cite relevant pages in your comments to be validated by the site council. You may choose to title your work after the book, which voters may prefer, but it's not required.

Browsing through the photos after this challenge and reading descriptions will provide us with a wealth of creative ideas and examples.

I love this idea. Freeman Patterson's books give me a lot of ideas for experimentation. He's a master of breaking 'the rules'.

The results would be amazing.

ok, now I'm wondering if the title is uninteresting, or no one gets it, or no one wants it? Chime in and be heard!

Just saw this. I don't see it happening as a challenge, but it would be a terrific thread to see. Or even a category: Creative Techniques. Some will argue there would be overlap with the "How'd They Do That?" forum, but I can see a difference.

What about creating a calendar? One new technique for each month...

That's a good idea. Perhaps I will start one in a week or so after I finish the aforementioned book.

But I'm not sure why this couldn't be a challenge. Basically, it's like a free study topically, trying out some techniques. I think it would expand everyone technically and leave a great legacy, personally.
