If you read the thread "Shooting Sports for Profit" you probably picked up on the fact that I was intriqued by the idea of being able to sell unedited photos on-site for events such as HS sports. I decided to try to see if I could produce images good enough that people would pay for them straight out of the camera. I shot at a college baseball game yesterday afternoon and have uploaded some to this folder Unedited Sports Shots
Please take a look and tell me what you think. Are they of a quality that people would buy them? Perhaps parents watching their kids play? Honest opinions appreciated. Thank you.

I am positive people will buy pictures of that quality of their kids. Those are really good! Just as a note - I've found that people will buy almost anything as long as they can see their kids' faces in it. :) |

good pics, great catches with the ball right there at the batter. Not sure if this idea was talked about in the thread you mentioned but I'll throw it out there...A friend of mine took his daughter to a skating try-out/training even in Colorado. He said there was a guy there taking $50 to shoot pics of the kids in action and he would burn a CD right there on the spot for them. He said this guy had people waiting in line to give money...what a great idea. Good luck to you. |

Harvey,
These look great, you have nothing to worry about :)
The only one that I would comment on is 0004, which looks a little flat, can you upload custom curves into the 20D? this would help (it's what I found I needed to do).
Hope this helps :)

Thanks to all who looked at my shots and took time to give some feedback.
Thanks also to moswyn for a very informative PM, she really knows her business. And, yes, I figured out the importance of face. Action shots can sometimes stand on their own but showing good face always makes them better. And it's very common for athletes to show a lot of emotion in their facial expression at the critical moments. Good face can sometimes carry a technically flawed photo.
Thanks sabphoto, burning a CD is something I hadn't thought about but would certainly have sales appeal. No more difficult than setting up a printer, maybe easier.
jen, I sent you a PM, and thanx for the reply.
Thanks Marjo. I, too, was hoping to get an opinion from moswyn. She came thru with flying colors.
colda, I don't think a 20D has that feature, at least not that I am aware of. 0004 was shooting a shaded subject but right in the direction of the sun. The 20D has 5 setting ranges for sharpness, contrasrt, saturation, etc. I have learned that you must back down from the default mid-point when you are using a quality lens to avoid overly sharp & saturated images. I'm still learning about the camera, as well as all the other stuff in photography.
Without specific reference to my shots, I think it says something if people are able to produce images straight out of the camera that other people are willing to buy.
Apologies for being so late to respond, I had difficulty in accessing the site yesterday.
