Currently I use Canvas size and changed width and height in pixels. It requires that the left, right, top and bottom be sized separately. Is there a quicker way to add a uniform border of 1 pixel to each side of the image? (In Photoshop)

Select the whole image, go to Edit>Stroke, then choose 1px and the colour :)

yes. ctrl-j to create a duplicate of your background layer, then click on the add layer style button at the bottom left of the layers palette and select 'stroke'. set the position to inside and the color to whatever you want it to be and the size to whatever you want. click ok.
edit: ben's a faster typist than me, but i still like keeping everything on a separate layer ;-)

Does PS not have an 'add border' command, a la PSP, then?

If you increase the Canvas size by 2 pixels each in height and width, you will have a one-pixel border all around without covering up that essential pixel on the edge of the photo. |
