am I the only onw who can't see it? has it been decided yet? I know it's early, but I like to get thinking on something right away

Delay in posting the new open challenge seems to be the norm. I'm not sure why. It'll show up soon, it always does.

strange, im usually here at midnight for the "turn-over" and never noticed it... whatever, just making sure my browser was working right

Maybe this is the "fix" for having so many "voter pending" challenges on the go. All we need now is another challenge with maybe......600 entries to really mess everyone up?

Well opening up a new challenge for submission does not affect the current crop of challenges open for voting...

Wonder why the delay...

no site council online so I guess it won't be posted until tomorrow some time.

Again ...

It's amazing how often Wednesday is my free day for getting out shooting, and how often I go with no idea what one of the challenges is.

It looks like Drew and Langdon forgot to post it again. :(

I'll shoot them both an IM, I expect it'll be fixed in the morning.

No, this is the end of DPChallenge. I heard that they've had enough of this rubbish.

There are too many challenges going at this time. I can't even vote on all the entries. Hard to get a good photo for all of them as well. I put a snapshot in for RPS. (Not doing very well.) I think I'm getting burned out.

If you can't get a good shot for a challenge you can always skip... helps keep the number of entries down, too.

Did these ppl sleep in or what???

They are allowed to sleep on occasion. The last Tuesday of alternating leap years is my recollection...

I've always wondered though why it's not more automated than this? Even deciding on the new theme a few days a ahead and scripting it to update automatically? Is that tough to do for any reason?
04/20/2005 08:24:53 AM · #17
Since the challenge suggestions go into a database, it seems to me they could mark ones that have been used, ones good for open challenges and ones good for member challenges, and pick a random one from the list of remaining suggestions that hasn't been used yet.

It can be scheduled and they in fact are... the problem occurs when the schedule runs out before they get more challenges added to it.

Hey - It's a great excuse for catching up on some voting while you wait for the next challenge... Set your mind free, relax. Even with a painfully slow 40k connection I've been able to get some votes and comments in - guilt free! Keep having fun! ;^)

Is it taking so long to check the spelling?

;-p

so why aren't they up yet???
04/20/2005 09:17:54 AM · #22
Maybe they have one or two other things in their lives besides DPC? ;)

Why wouldn't someone sit down for say an hour and schedule about 30 of these - and keep us going for half the dang year?

THERE IT IS!

Hmmm- hour with girlfriend/fiancee or scheduling for DPC...hmmmm.

You decide. ;)

Keep in mind, there could be something else buggering up the works. For example, a small asteroid could have landed on Drew's computer...
