I asked this in another thread but it got lost as it was slightly off-topic. So here I go again:
Is it possible (please!) to extend the voting deadline on this challenge? After all, people had more time to come up with the photos, and there are 500+ works in there.
Given that there are three more challenges up for vote at the same time, I think that it would be reasonable for the Admins to make this little change and allow an extra week of voting on this one?
Anyone to second this one?
The reasons are obvious: there isn't enough time to approach this set of excellent photos with the equal amount of effort that these photos deserve.

Yes, I'm way behind in my voting already. Still got a thousand or so to go through, it's not going to happen... |

Done. Took me an hour and a half. Only made comments on 12 images and will go back and comment on more later this week. |

Means more time for my update button addiction to take it's toll again. Not sure if that's a good idea! |

No - stop voting now. This instant! That'd be just fine.

No need for that. We always have way too much free time in hour hands (even a very busy person) and we waste it on stupid things! It's just a matter of dedicating some time to it a day, and u're good to go.
U don't necessarily have to be here 24h a day, but it also doesn't mean u can't spend 30-40 minutes a day going through the entries and voting!

Either extend the voting period on all challenges to 2 weeks or suffer through all challenges in one week.
I think a longer voting period for all challenges is a good thing...helps stop all of the 'too many entries' complaints...

I see there's a poll up for this issue now. I think the question should be asked the day before voting is currently scheduled to end - see what people think then. My guess is that most in favor of an extension will have changed their minds by Sunday.
I vote to keep as is. |

...in exchange for different complaints about the voting period being too long. |

A week is long enough I think people will become really annoyed if it's longer...although 507 photos is a lot, lots of people are still on dial-up connections and I know that can be a drag.
I used to vote for and try to comment on 50-70 images a day in a challenge.
I'm still surprised that only 137 people have voted on my entry sofar, looking forward to some more :)

You can change your mind in those polls, you know; but it's pretty heavily in favour of staying at one week's voting.

It seems most people are pretty happy to give up on a few extra comments to have the results back a week earlier. I'm not particularly concerned either way with this - I've got almost as many votes and just as many comments on my free study as on my people entry despite the fact that people started a day earlier, and my entry in that challenge is far stronger.
One suggestion I do have - perhaps the results of the free study could remain on the front page for an extra week - firstly that would give people a little longer to digest the entries and would reflect the additional difficulty involved in winning a free study challenge. |

Extend?
Poll is in favor of one week...
But what about the almost 200 that have asked for more time to complete the voting and commenting... just ingnore them.
I want the full benefits of the challenge and if I get one comment more in the extra week then I say yes listen to the 200 voters that want more time.
500 pictues takes 1-2 hour to vote on even more if you stop to comment. |

I think it's pretty much the people who are doing 6.0 plus (definitely not me!) who want this over as quickly as possible.
Personally, my interest is in voting. I haven't voted yet, and if it closes in one week, I may not. |
