I've been approached regarding this pic for inclusion in a book. Is anyone familiar with the Foundation for Deep Ecology - or any products of theirs?

Foundation for Deep Ecology

They haven't mentioned a fee, but have also enquired about similar shots. I'd be grateful for any information.

I never heard of that organization, but I know that your picture would do great in any sort of ocean lifeguarding safety publication as a "Don't do this in the swimming area" photo. It may not have done well in the challenge, but that is a great shot that could serve many purposes regarding safety instruction, and it is appropriately titled!

they look legit, jon. their website goes pretty deep. they seem to be the type of organization you'd like to be associated with. hope it works out!

It's a great photo that works well on a number of different levels, from the obvious safety tip 'don't try this at home,' to the more indirect 'don't be an inconsiderate jerk,' to 'don't assume you have rights to all the resources people with lesser means cannot defend.' I think it will be great if the photo gets much broader exposure. And if the two pages I viewed at the site are indicative of the organization's goals and ideals, it looks like a good fit. Thanks for sharing the good news.
