Last Friday I was fortunate enough to attend Ladies Day at Aintree Racecourse. Keep in mind while looking at the photos that the day started with a champagne breakfast at 8:30am, and the drinking didn't stop until we left the course at 6pm! I managed to get some of them in focus though : )

In true "living it large" style we had our own corporate box for the day ...
General shots of the work colleagues I was there with.

My rather poor attempts at race photography ...
Some horses that kept running round in circles and interrupting the drinking.

And in true "saving the best till last" and "it's a hard job but somebody's got to do it" style ...
The ladies of Ladies Day

Enjoy!

Some great shots there, bod.
cool how the beeb had the same shot from a diff angle (of the girls). Fab action shots of the horses.

This one has especially nice framing.

Thanks.
What was funny was watching those two girls playing up to the cameras in such an obvious "put our picture in your newspaper/magazine" kind of way : )
I guess it worked!

There's a "photo properties" link on each photo with the exif info, but it looks like all the Ladies were at ISO100. I think I switched to ISO200 for the indoor stuff and then left it there for the rest of the day.
Most were shot with the Canon 28-135 IS lens btw.

Nice work bod. I'll carry your bag for you if you go back next year. Hadn't heard the term "dead cert" since reading Dick Francis. I think the USA counterpart is to call a horse a "mortal lock", lol.

Looking through these collections, I am in awe.
Your eye for a shot and a great composition are to be commended.
Very nice work!

Thanks guys.
I'm working on going again next year ... I was there as a reward for being employee of the month a while back. There is talk of people nominating me again just so that I can go take more photos :D

Just the one *bump*.

Is the rest of the world aware of The Grand National by the way? This event was part of the 3 day event leading up to the big race.
