Having recently moved to digital with Dimage Z3, I am already finding the limitations with such a camera. Having used film SLR for many years, obviously I would prefer a DSLR. Bodies are one thing, but the lenses can be very expensive. I have a number of Tamron lenses which were very good on my Olympus OM-1n, would I be able to use these lenses, with a different adaptor if needed, on a DSLR? If so, what features, apart from autofocus, would I loose? Is this a sensible thing to do?
Thanks,

Olymupus makes DSLRs, the E-1 and the Evolt E-300 according to BHPhoto, if you have a number of lens you may want to see if either of these cameras will work for you.

There are no DSLRs that use an Olympus OM mount--even the Olympus E-1 and E-300 are not compatable with OM lenses. You may be able to find an adapter, but you will most likely lose all auto-metering, exposure, focus, etc.
Your best bet is just to start from scratch with a DLSR of your choice, and 1 good lens, then work up from there. |

Cameraquest does make an adpater for mating Olympus OM lenses to the 4/3 system mount. TTL metering apparetly is still possible in some modes, but of course focusing and aperture settig will be manual.
The adapter is not inexpensive though, and you'd need to be able to manually set the aperture on the lens.
IMO, it would be better to sell the glass you have, and choose a system that you feel will be what you need for the future.

Olympus will give you the adapter for free but you need to request it from them.
