I just got my new Zenitar fisheye last night from KievCamera. I took some quick shots this afternoon to try it out and I think I'm going to be very happy with this lens. So if anyone wants to try out a fisheye but doesn't want to pay the price for a Sigma or Canon, you might want to check out the Zenitar. Keep in mind these pictures are very quick shots, no thought really and pretty much straight out of the camera.

Taken from the KievCamera website:
The Zenitar- 2.8/16 mm lens is a compact short-focus, super wide-angle lens that provides you with a full-frame exposure (not a circle spot on the frame) that shows an ultra wide- angle 180 degree field ofview that, until now, was available only with lenses costing literally much, much more.
It is ideal for architecture, landscape, and group pictures.
It's built like a tank, came with an EOS mount already attached, front and rear lens caps, a nice carrying case and some weird round quarter sized colored filters in their own case that I have no idea what to do with :) Ordered it thursday, got it last night.

Fixed and manual focus. But on the advice of others, I just set it to infinity and shot. So far so good

Sounds cool. I was mostly interested in how wide it went, but am surprised at the f2.8! That's really great. Should be a terrific and fun lens!

I have this lens and think it's great. Haven't used it much since I got a 17-40 f4L, though. It is sharpest stepped down, but the further you step down, the darker the viewfinder gets. I mostly use it at f8 in AV mode with focus set to infinity.

I got this lens back in the fall. I just love it! It is a 2.8, but I must say that 2.8 is very un-sharp. Stop it down to f/8.0 and it's a fantastic lens for the price. The focal range goes from 8 inches to 4 feet, so it's a breeze to work with.

You'll only get the full effect of the wide angle (180º)on a full frame camera. I love using it on my film camera. Great effect. //mariomelillo.com/albums/architecture/60140003_NI.sized.jpg

I've had a blast with the fisheye lens. It takes all the seriousness out of photography for me. It keeps my sense of humor in check.
Oh, ... By-the-way, Waldo was in the bottom left corner.

The weird small filters go on the rear element of the lens. Really wide lenses are hard to front-mount filters 'cuz of vignetting problems. That's my guess anyway; back in the day, I saw these filters for Nikon fisheyes. They probably won't be much use to you in digital, but if youw ere shooting B/W film they would be.
