Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5x Macro Lens
Does anyone have this lens? is it that good or not?
If you don't own it what do you think of it?
Or have you tried it.
Just tell me what you know about this lens. i would love to know your opinions.
If you have one could you show me the 5:1?
I own the sigma 105mm, this canon lens is much better than this one i own right?
Thanks in advance.

5:1 will get you in a lot of places that a 1:1 lens can never go. That said it would be well advised to get a ring flash for the 65mm MP-E if you get it. Not much light at that magnification.

what about the fact of not having auto focus is it a bummer?

I don't think that you use autofocus for macro work...

I use AF for macro work. The fact that the MP-E doesn't have AF is the only reason I don't own one.

I have not been able to make my 100mm on 10D work for me for macro specially when I can't force the subject to align with the 7 auto-focus regions..
this is one of the phots which I think I can't do in autofocus

I use a 180mm 3.5L macro, sometimes with a extension tube, and I have no problem with AF. But then I am using the 1Ds or the 1D Mk II. Both of these bodies have various focus points to choose from.

My eyes have gotten to the point now that without AF I would have to give up macro work. In fact without AF I would have to give up all photography.
