In an effort to improve the quality of comments and to relieve the load on the Critique Club, try the following.

When you are in the process of voting, pick one or more photos that you know you can make constructive criticism on and develop your comment into an In-Depth critique. If just the voters that had entries in each challenge would do this it would make a demonstrable difference. Wait that isn̢۪t all! If you were to get an in-depth critique on your photo, guess what? You should feel obligated to return the thought of your fellow voter, with another critique on another photo of your choice. And of course it would be nice if a follow up contact was made through a PM after the challenge was over to acknowledge how pleased you were to get such a nice critique.

A lot of participants on this site are very knowledgeable and do contribute a lot to the site already, and a lot of them are flooded with requests for critiques after the challenge is completed. This call is not to replace the Critique Club just one to possibly relieve the strain

Perhaps a more appealing title...

None of us have responded because we all feel guilty because we know we SHOULD be doing this but we are not...

I leave pretty in-depth comments all the time.

once in awhile, I even do critique club comments!

nobody cares though.

Being new, I don't know if I'm qualified to leave an in depth critique. I have left a few comments though. I hope to comment more as my confidence and skills increase.

It is all your opinion about the photo. Who is "more qualified" to render that?

Just remember to politely phrase them as opinions and not as Universal Truths and everybody will be happy -- the photographer for having the photo considered, and you for learning a lot while you write.

This really works..autool provided me with such an in depth critique on my pet portrait-it was wonderful.
I have requested critique club comments just about every time, but have only received one from that avenue. Getting feedback like I did, really is a big help on the learning curve.
I did make contact through a PM, and offered what insights I had on his shot.
Try this system..quality is better than quantity!

Bucket and I have had a brief correspondence that was generated by my in depth comment on his photo. When I gave it I was Bold and asked that he return the comment after the challenge was over. I thought at the time it was quite a big step, but have found it to be very rewarding. I will work with this concept during the "Buildings" challenge, if someone is offended because I asked for their input, well so be it. I will let you know how it works out, or you could give it a try yourselves.
Good luck!
