First I have to say that although I haven't had time to enter or vote the last couple of months, I do run in ever so often and look at the photos being submitted. Kudos to all the recent winner and to all those submitting all the awesome photos. The photography on this site just blows me away. I can't wait till I get my dads estate all settled and his house on the market so I can get back to spending more time here and taking pictures again.

We took a break from all our responsiblities and took a badly needed vacation. I thought some of you might enjoy seeing some of the pictures we took on a cruise to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. You'll have to skip through a bunch because they are just people we met on the ship and I put them on the web so they could see if they wanted copies of any. Most of the pictures were taken from the cruise ship because I didn't want to take my camera with me when we got off the ship. None of the picture are really anything spectacular but for those who haven't been there or might be thinking of going you can see how pretty it is. I was not thrilled with Jamaica and would not recommend it but the other 2 places were awesome. I went to Jamaica about 20 years ago and it has really gone down since then.

This is a hand held panaramic I took from the ship. It's rough but I haven't had time to really work on it.

Thanks for the mini-vacation -- I needed one! I enjoyed the shots. My wife and I did the same itinerary on Voyager of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) a few years ago. I had the same feelings about Jamaica -- the locals drove us nuts there!

Thanks for the comments Alan. We went on the Conquest (Carnival) It was a fairly new ship and was hugh. I was afraid with the amount of people on it, everything would be crowded, but it really wasn't. I think it held around 4,000. They are saying they have 2 new ships coming out that will hold more than double the amount of people this one does. I can't imagine how big those will be.

When we went on that trip, we did it on Voyager of the Seas, which was, at the time, the world's largest cruise ship at 138,000 tons (compared to a similarly massive 110,000 tons for the Conquest). We were worried about it being crowded, too, but this particular trip came just a few days after September 11.

Not that there's anything good you can say about that horrible day, but only about 2/3 of the people were able to make it to Miami to take the cruise, so we actually had an incredible experience with LOTS of space to ourselves that time.

First question....Who's the bald guy being mobbed in picture IMG_1611aa.jpg?

I also really liked the Panaramic and also the picture of the sun through the clouds IMG_1688aa.jpg

All the cruize ships looked like they were racing.

Overall nice photos and looks like it was an enjoyable cruize. I'm jelouse (sp?).

The panoramic wasn't stitched together in Photoshop? You said it was "rough" and I can see what I want to say are stitch lines and some other minor inconsistancies...
