Here is an attempt to solicit feedback (several bumps will ensue) of a picture I took, an impromtu portrait of my friend Eric.

My initial thought is a tighter crop, there is more background than subject. Possibly even go portrait instead of landscape. Nice sharp picture, color on the upper eyelids seem unnaturally red on my (calibrated) monitor.

You could dodge his eyes a bit to bring them out more - and I'd change the crop to put him further towards the right - and have him look across the frame.

why does he have that expression on his face?

Great expression. I would try to get a little more color contrast between the face and the rocks. |

Yea the composition on the original was a wee lack luster. P's crop adds some zing and personality. |
