I just rec'd my A2 this week.. so far, I'm not liking it. My favorite film camera is my Minolta 300si...
Is there a trick to getting used to the A2, things don't seem crisp...and I'm going to have to shell out the bucks to get the zoom attachment and the micro lenses as well..
I feel like I can't hold this camera still...and even when I do things don't come out, like what I expected them to...

Click on the link for your camera and it will bring up some images that have been taken with it. That will give you a good overview of what images are possible with it.

Don't forget you'll need to sharpen in Photoshop to get the best results. |

taken from dpreview:
Imagine the disappointment then when we discovered that while fast, the AF system seemed a bit hit and miss, showing us the white AF OK indicator dot when in fact the focus was either way out or just slightly out. We also had some issues with randomly soft images (as well as AF misses) and artifacts from moiré - I think the lens is being used beyond it's capabilities.

I feel like I did myself a disservice by buying into digital Minolta. Too many focusing/shake issues! I was testing out other cameras at B&H and realized that even in the low light of the store, I could still FOCUS, even if there was shaky blur. With the Minolta, I can't even focus in low light. Forget about the shake, it's ridiculous...
I dunno what kind of advice to give, I've got a crappy lil Z1...but good luck and all that jazz!

I think I know what you are going through. I had a Minolta A1 and it took me an awful long time to get used to it. Minolta's do relatively little in-camera image processing, apparently thinking it allows the photographer more freedom and control if they do it themselves with photo-editing software. You don't necessarily need Photoshop either, Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop Elements are reasonably priced alternatives. The Gimp and PhotoFiltre are free photo-editing programs. Experiment with the settings for sharpness, contrast and saturation to find what suits your shooting style best. And use a tripod when appropriate. Your new camera has a very high quality lens system. You can get crispy sharp in-focus pictures from it, but it takes a little more effort than with some less full featured point & shoot models.
There is a forum at DPReview dedicated to Konica-Minolta non-DSLR cameras: K-M Talk That's a better place to get answers to questions about your specific model. This place seems to be pretty Canon-centric, and at times we get snobbish about it.

Have you turned on the anti-shake? that does help for handheld shots. Our A2 takes beautiful crisp pictures.
