Yes you read it correctly I sold up everything I had, my D70 my lenses (except the 10.5 and 24-120VR) I sold my Pentax med format with a 200mmf4 lens my 80-200f2.8, my 85mmf1.4Ai... I saved 2 lenses and bought myself a brand spanking sweet A$$ Nikon D2H with the funds.. I had to add a small amount of cash to it and the guy at the shop even said if I can bring him $150 before next week then he will give me my SB800 back (same price) I thought that was very fair of him, and also if I can find the box, CD, cable for the D70 he will return $100.
Im over the moon even though I have come down in MP as the D2X is only 4.1MP I think I have made a good choice.
Thanks for sharing my excitment |

I'm excited for you!
(I don't quite understand it all beside you sold everything to get a freaking tight camera, but that is about it)

Congratulations.
I don't get it, but if you're happy that is all that matters.

Sorry I was not very clear about it (too excited i guess) I used to have a Nikon D70 with a selection of lenses and I went to a shop today, actually to buy another lens, but I saw the D2H and asked how much they would give me in part-X for my things after a long talk we agreed a deal and I sold everything I had except 2 lenses and my flash (10.5mm - 24-120VR SB800) now I am the proud owner of a new D2H. I just got back from shooting with it and all I can say is WOW ITS FAST.... I lost 50% on flash sync 1/250th where as the D70 was 1/500th but I seldom use high speed flash anyway so the extra FPS was more of a benefit to me. Thank you for congrats, Im sad to loose so much but happy to get so much in return, a strange emotion...LOL |

i dont understand why nikon put a 4 mp sensor instead of something larger. for a camera that expensive, why not something like a 12 mp? |

The D2H is an older model that came out before the larger megapixel sensors were as cheap to produce as they have become today. It was the first camera to have an attachment for the wireless transmission of photo files. It is a very widely used camera for photojournalists, especially in the area of sports. For these users 4 mp is adequate, or at least it was until recently. When Nikon introduced the 12mp D2X they dropped the price on the D2H and were showered with criticism from photogs who perceived a severe loss in resale value for their trusty D2H's. Nikon now has come out with an updated version called the D2Hs which has many of the technilogical advances of the D2X but still only 4 mp. Even though there are two newer models in Nikon's pro DSLR lineup the D2H remains a camera to be respected, and a relative steal at the current street price of under $2000. The new ones propably won't be around for too much longer, and I'd be very careful if buying one used right now. Lots of photojournalists, especially the one's whose employer pays for new equipment, are upgrading and the market will be flooded with some very used D2H bodies.
D2H users normally love them but the complaint that they eat batteries is common.
