I have 2 domaines and on one of them I turned on a filter to catch all emails going to ANY email address to my first domain, even if the address is not correct.

well my domain name is being spoofed as the reply to address when spammers are sending spam emails to a lot of people. What I am getting back is a lot of undeliveriable messages to non-working email address.

so the spammer is using a made up "reply to" email address using my domaine name.

any ideas on what I can do or is there no way to stop it

happened to us, some spammer in Turkey looking for young women to model in porn films....

We got hundreds of thousands of bounce backs, crashed our ISDN line at the time. Then you get thousands of emails (remove me from your list) when you cant'.

Does the email have any images. Do a view source and look for
I used to get extremely explicit SPAM. I traced the images to hosts in Bank Of America Building 1 Hong Kong. I literally email the host who did nothing. Then I emailed the building. 2-3 days later - i never received an email from them again.

Also, if the host refuses to do anything, claim copyright infringement. They're much more scared of that often. Most have clauses to drop any clients no questions asked in copyright infringement cases. And as your domain name was used. You could probably pull it off. Also, consider trademarking your domain. Than you have a clear IP violation.

I had this happen to one of my yahoo addresses. It got so bad--viruses, spams, etc. all being bounced "supposedly back" to me.

Basically, the bad news is that the email address became unusable. In my case, because it was a free yahoo account, I simply had to create a new one.

If it were a specific address, you could just trap it and trash all mail, but unfortunately, you can't do that with your catchall. Perhaps just trash all wrong mail for a while, and hope it dies down.

Or maybe one of the server side spam tools can filter based on the headers.

That's screwed up. I think anyone caught doing stuff like that should be shot and killed.

Here's a question...

DO PEOPLE REALLY CLICK ON AND BUY THE STUPID STUFF THEY SELL IN SPAM??? I mean seriously...seems like they're just making a lot of people mad.

Actually, yes. The percentage is low, but because the cost is so cheap, the ROI is very good for the spammers.

Sure they do, just watch all the people venting here about buying equipment from the bait and switch scam internet photo sites. People want to believe even though its too good to be true

Some underage porn site started spoofing my domain, so I got a lot of VERY irate mail back, especially when they saw I was a photographer. Very messy. There's very little that can be done about this.

I also had it happen to my yahoo, but it turned out to be a virus, that when emailed to you it takes all the addresses from my address book, and emails it to all of them, then they open it and it takes all there addresses and emails it to all of them...so I get it back again, and I got so many bad emails. We updated our mcfee and also blocked any such emails and there was no need to change my email address.

If only they had better things to do with there time...like photography..lol

thanks for the ideas and tips.

my email adress are not being used. I have 5 or 6 that I used on that domaine. None of the bounces are to them. THe bounce emails are from one of the made up address @my-domaine so with my catch all filter I just get the ones geting sent back to my domaine.

I dont have time right now to collect all the message headers and stuff. Maybe after we move in a few weeks things will slow down
