I think my user name gives it away. I'm blue/green deficient. I sort of gave up oil painting because I always seemed to paint grass as if it looked like it was dead (my wife likes to still joke about that). I hope it doesn't carry over to photography. If you guys start seeing a lot of nature shots with dead grass, it's probably mine. |

It's not photography I would be worried about, but driving ;-)
I expect male only responses, since it's male (mostly) phenomenon. No, I am not color blind.

There was a thread about this and quite a few challenge winners turned out to be color blind. Here's that discussion.

No, the practical effect is that the eyes seem to be less-sensitive to the red component of mixed colors, making it difficult to distinguish green from brown, blue from purple or lavender, and so on. Most people with this problem (about 10% of males have some form of color defect) have no trouble seeing pure colors, like a red stop sign or a green apple as the proper color. |

Very well said General.
Excellent explanation for my messed up eyes.

Blue-green color blind.
I once stoped by the car dealer to pick up my wife's bluish green Celica after some maintenance. I asked for the brown Celica.
Although my wife loved the color, I had never liked the brown color of the car. But I also had never understood its true color, only the way it appeared to me.
The comendy of errors that followed was pretty hilarious. |
