A couple new Boat photos - DPChallenge Forums

These are just a couple that I found in the archives and I thought I would share here... I have a weakness for taking boat &/ or canoe pictures on the water, as my portfolio shows:)

I just counted... I have 18 boat &/or canoe shots in my portfolio:)

Nice atmospheric pics - but in the first one I find the reflection of a different boat a little distracting - have tried to deal with it - what do you think?

I liked the reflection of the other boat because it adds an interesting element and gives a sense of framing for the boat. You did do an excellent job of cloning it out.

"new boat" photos...perhaps your ship has come in, but don;'t look now, it's sinking!

Sorry, could not resist. The posted pics are really nice - i like the sinking one best.

i like boat photos too. Here in Pittsburgh PA we ar something like #3 county in the USA for boat registrations, and the US's largest inland port, so you'd think there would lots of oppurtunities for boat pics. I gess there are, but not the really photogenic ones - my wife is from Baltimore and I like taking pics there - prettier boats!

This is the nicest of the three photos... I like the symetry... the other two seem slightly OOF.

The first one is retouched, to take out the white glare on the water, in the top of the photo. I did it with cloning and then burning over it. Just burning turned the water an odd fluorescent green color. I don't know, I think I prefer the original.

Or, if someone else can do a better job... I am still a rookie at post processing. Always glad to learn something...

Why would you want to get rid of the glare? It's entirely natural and gives a great sense of depth to the image.

Yes, I tend to agree... I thought I would experiment with the color to see if I could just create a mor euniform water color. But, I do like the original better.
