I now have a smugmug account. I have uploaded all of my pictures that I have saved on my hard drive. Don't rush the only one that is public is the Art folder. Which is of me learning the process of taking pictures. I have many more from chorus concerts and graduations of my kids but they are private. My wife is scared of everyone being able to see our pictures. I think that it is just snapshots of my kids having fun and or family stuff. Where she is worried about child stalkers looking at pictures of our kids playing where I have taken snapshots. I just want a site where family and friends can go and check periodically to see what I have taken lately. I don't want to have to e-mail them everytime I update it. Is there a way to convince her? I have used Ofoto and Snapfish. Was just wondering what everyone else's thought was on this matter.

You can create private folders, and then give people access as you see fit.
Make sure you don't have any contact information on the site, and remember that most child stalkers and abuse comes from people to whom victims are close.
Good luck!

You can password-protect the gallery with the kid photos. You can also create a private ShareGroup just for family and friends.

Looks like I really need to spend a day playing with this site. I have password protected them. But wanted a way that I could just have them go to jstantonjr.smugmug.com and see what I have added by entering a password. Seems like I have to send them a direct link to the gallery.

You could use the same password for all "family" galleries, then when they come to your site and see a new "family" gallery they will already know how to get into the new gallery.

Michael. I checked out your smugmug. How do you get the picture on there for the password protected galleries? I got the password thing working but you can see one image. It also looks like this site is fully customizable. Man I really need to play with this site.

Yes, smugmug is very customizable, and they're adding new stuff all the time.
The image that is displayed for a password-protected gallery depends on whether or not you have a 'featured photo' selected. If you do select a featured photo, then it will be displayed as the image for your gallery. Otherwise, the default image...
will be displayed...

Thanks Michael. Looks like I need to upgrade to at least advanced user to get the customization like you have on your site. Wonderful work by the way.

You only need a professional account if you want to sell prints for profit (i.e. set your own prices), or if you want to use cobranding to replace smugmug's logo, header, footer, and color scheme with your own.
I think password protection and ShareGroups are available to all users.

Does anybody know how to put clickable links in my bio. HTML Code? What code would it be?
Thanks.
