I have my first wedding coming up in a month. I currently own the Canon 300D but am wondering if I should upgrade to the 20D.

I know the 20D is a great camera but in order to do the upgrade I would have to sell a lens or two along with the rebel.

My real question is, should I upgrade a take a loss in lenses. Or should I stick with the 300D for now. I really want to make the leap into professional photography as well so should this be done now or later.

I say stick with what you have and do the wedding. Then you can use the money you made to help you trade up without having to sell lenses along with the 300D. The pics you take with your 300D will be plenty impressive for your clients.

what else do you have?
You will need a TTL flash - canon 550ex, sigma 500 super, metz54...etc
a flip flash bracket'
3 g of memory cards
a 28-80 lens, the faster the better. a 28-105 would be better, a 28-200 overkill.
a wide angle (10-22, 12-24) would be most helpful

shoot important shots in RAW (the church, formals, etc) and the reception can be done in JPG.
Have you done wedding before? have an assistant? have a list of planned shots?

If you have everything above, including a backup body, then sure, upgrade.

You need a backup camera. Don't go do a wedding for money with only one Camera body. Murphy's law applies here and your clients won't be happy if your camera dies and you can't get them the photos.

You know how to use the 300D. You will have a learning curve on the 20D.
