I have 96 votes and only 6 comments. You know how we are required to vote on a percentage of photos..well what if we were required to comment on a percentage as well. I am a novice at this and the comments really help me learn to develop my skills... I try to comment on most of the photos.

6 comments on 96 votes is good. I have 8 comments on 151 votes. But I have noticed a lot more views than votes on this challenge. I currently have more than 100 views than votes. I know thats not that uncommon but at this rate it will be a higher ratio than normal.

Heck I have challenges where I only recieved 2 or 3 comments during the entire challenge and if you sort by the least commented images, you will see there are many images with no comments.

How do you sort the challenge results by "Comments"?

We tried it -- didn't solve the old problem and created new ones. I agree, 6 comments in 96 votes is pretty good. You'll find that people like to comment on really good images, some offer suggestions on bad images, and ones in the middle which are "OK but nothing special" usually get the fewest -- probably because people can't think of anything helpful to say.
What most people overlook is that making comments is one of the best ways to improve your own photography. |

Go to the menu Photos > Browse -- on the left of that page will be links to several display options. The default view is most-recently commented-on photos. |

I actually reported a comment to one of my challenge photos...the commentor made a political statement...and had nothing to do with the photo submitted at all! I asked that it be removed and something be said to the person who made it. I think if you comment on a photo, then it should be about the photo and not about your political standing on foreign affairs! Just my 2cent RANT!!!!!!

| I think requiring comments would likely lead to "good shot" type comments that aren't all that useful and/or would deter people from voting. What I'd like to see is not a demand for comments, but some sort of reward to incentivize them, and not just comments, but for helpful comments. A simple reward could be something like a special monthly or seasonal challenge that's only open to people with X number of comments marked helpful in the prior month or trimester. |

I also have way more views than votes but I'm not sure it matters it might just be people who already looked looking again.. I know i look at photos several times,
I now agree that requiring comments would lead to general comments that are not so helpful..I was all excited to see that i had comments until i read them..
by the way is it against any rules to tell a person which photo is yours in a comment box during a challenge?? someone commented on mine and it said something along the lines of "mine is yada yada see(photo title)!! :)" I dont want to put the exact comment in here because i do not want to reveal myself to the person at this time... but i hope you get the point..
